How CQ Fabrication handles data across the TailMux website, account, licensing, support, and product operations.
1. Controller and scope
This Policy explains how personal data is handled in connection with the TailMux website, account, purchases, licensing, downloads, and support.
The data controller is CQ Fabrication, Italy — VAT ID IT18383251008. You can contact us at hello@cqfabrication.com or through cqfabrication.com.
2. Data we process
Depending on how you use TailMux, we process:
- account and authentication data needed to create and secure your account, sign you in, and recover access;
- purchase and license data needed to complete checkout, issue and validate a license, manage entitled devices, provide downloads, and handle renewals or refunds;
- technical and security data needed to deliver the site, protect the service, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and record acceptance of the applicable legal documents;
- communications and feedback that you choose to send to us; and
- limited website and product usage data used to understand and improve TailMux.
Payment and tax details entered during checkout are processed by Polar and its payment partners. CQ Fabrication does not store full payment-card details.
Traffic routed through TailMux to your tailnets does not pass through CQ Fabrication systems at any time. We do not receive or inspect any of that traffic, its contents, or its credentials.
3. Purposes and legal bases
We process personal data only where there is a legal basis:
- contract and pre-contractual steps: to provide accounts, checkout, licenses, downloads, transactional emails, and support;
- legal obligations: to keep records required by tax, accounting, consumer, or other applicable law and to respond to lawful requests;
- legitimate interests: to secure and operate the service, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, maintain evidence of legal acceptance, defend legal claims, and measure the site through limited non-account-linked statistics; and
- consent: for optional analytics linked to an account or retained across visits.
The data required for an account, purchase, or license must be provided if you want to use those functions. Optional analytics and voluntary feedback are not required to use TailMux.
We do not use personal data for advertising and do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Cookies and analytics
TailMux uses essential first-party cookies for sign-in and security. We also store your analytics choice in a first-party preference cookie so the banner does not appear on every visit.
We collect limited, non-account-linked usage statistics to understand how the TailMux site is used and to keep it reliable. Optional analytics that can be associated with an account or retained across visits are enabled only if you accept them. Refusing optional analytics does not affect the website, your account, purchases, licenses, or downloads.
We use OpenPanel for analytics. TailMux does not use advertising cookies or session replay.
You can change your optional analytics choice by deleting the TailMux analytics preference cookie and choosing again when the banner appears, or by contacting us.
5. Service providers and transfers
We use service providers for hosting and security, payments and licensing, transactional email, analytics, error reporting, feedback handling, and release downloads. These currently include Cloudflare and our hosting providers, Polar and its payment partners, Resend, OpenPanel, Better Stack, GitHub, and Hetzner.
They process data only for the relevant service and under their own terms and data-processing commitments. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where a transfer mechanism is required, the applicable provider terms use recognized safeguards such as an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses. You may contact us for information about the safeguard relevant to a specific transfer.
We do not sell personal data or provide it to advertising networks.
6. Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described above:
- account and license data while needed to provide the account, perpetual license, and related services;
- purchase and transaction records for the periods required by law;
- security, error, and legal-acceptance records for as long as reasonably needed to protect the service, comply with obligations, or establish and defend claims;
- analytics data according to the applicable choice and service configuration; and
- support and feedback data for as long as needed to handle the request and any related obligations.
When data is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymized. Deleting an account may not immediately remove records that we must retain for legal, transaction, security, or claims purposes.
7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. If you identify a suspected vulnerability or security incident affecting TailMux, contact security@cqfabrication.com. Please do not include unnecessary personal data in the report.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of your personal data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
To exercise your rights or ask a privacy question, contact hello@cqfabrication.com.
9. Changes
We may update this Policy when the service, legal requirements, or our processing changes. TailMux publishes the current version and effective date on this page and, where appropriate, asks signed-in users to acknowledge a new version.
